This post will be way to long if I try to recap a blow by blow of the weekend. However as you can suspect from the title it wasn't the best backpacking trip I have ever been on. The attenders and fellowship was great, the experience not so great. The weekend had its fare share of laughs and frustrations. It was a weekend of being thrown off course, due to park rangers not knowing what they were talking about and not so great weather on Saturday. A trek that should have kept us going until Sunday afternoon, ended on Saturday around 4pm. Oh, well maybe next time! All in all the weekend was fun and good memories were made. If you want the fully acted out rendition of the trip talk to Josh. Oh, and last but not least don't ever take the advice of park ranger Jason Strickler he doesn't know what he is talking about...
We would like this blog to encapsulate exactly what the title refers to. The "memoirs", the memories, the observations and the life experiences that occur at Burke Manor. Why Burke Manor, you ask? Anytime someone new would come to visit our home Josh would always say, "welcome to Burke Manor". It just sort of stuck so now we have, "The Memoirs of Burke Manor".
