If you keep updated with the Memoir blog you will remember a past post entitled "A weekend not to worry". It was regarding Josh and his Rugby team and how every week that he has a game I worry to death. Well the spring season has finally come to an end and thankfully Josh has chosen not to play over the summer. This means that I have three glorious months not to worry, at least about Rugby that is. Now other issues, I can make no promises. However, in a way I am telling a falsehood or lie whatever you choose to call it. Reason being is that this season was our starting "hookers" last season ( a hooker is a rugby position). He and his wife are moving to Ohio. Now you say, "well why would this worry you"? Reason is, guess what position Josh plays? Ding, Ding, Ding you guessed it "hooker". So now my worry has been taken to a new level. Josh will now more than likely be starting every game... I am very excited for him, as I mentioned in my past post because he really likes playing the game. However, I seriously am going to die young due to the worry this causes me!! The fall season begins the end of August, I am sure Josh would love to have some supporters/fans!!
We would like this blog to encapsulate exactly what the title refers to. The "memoirs", the memories, the observations and the life experiences that occur at Burke Manor. Why Burke Manor, you ask? Anytime someone new would come to visit our home Josh would always say, "welcome to Burke Manor". It just sort of stuck so now we have, "The Memoirs of Burke Manor".

via wikipedia, "Hookers are a key position in attacking and defensive play. The name is derived from the fact that hookers use their feet to 'hook' the ball in the scrum; because of the pressure put on the body by the scrum it is considered to be one of the most dangerous positions to play."
Thank you, Thank you! This is exactly what I needed to hear!!

This definition of hooker is good but i disagree with this position being as dangerous as the definition implies. Any position in rugby is dangerous if the player does not have an off season for strength training, conditioning, etc.. Plus it is a contact sport. All that being said Rugby is not nearly as rough as people make it out to be. In my mind at least.
