We would like this blog to encapsulate exactly what the title refers to. The "memoirs", the memories, the observations and the life experiences that occur at Burke Manor. Why Burke Manor, you ask? Anytime someone new would come to visit our home Josh would always say, "welcome to Burke Manor". It just sort of stuck so now we have, "The Memoirs of Burke Manor".

The Hip Bones Connected To....
Since the beginning of 2008, I (Jadey) have had my fair share of pokes and sticks and visits to the doctor. After having a scare with an abnormal brain MRI, having MS ruled out for the time being and a very scary trip to the ER due to an oral allergy to onions I thought my days at the doctor were over. At least for a little while! However, Thursday proved that theory wrong. I was enjoying myself at a work retreat at "Graves Mountain", beautiful place if you have never been. It was a nice day, we got away from the office and I was enjoying the nice fresh mountain air. It was not comfy at all so I started to rub it, this led to my heart racing, dizziness, difficulty swallowing etc. etc. Of course for those that know me well, I always go to the extreme. I immediately think I am having a stroke, something very serious so that of course induces my panic more!! My thoughts are, "oh great, I am having a stroke and stuck up here on this mountain with no cell reception." I can never think, oh I am just really dizzy.. Anywhoo, long story short. I got some fresh air and ate some food, the pain and dizziness did not go away. I finally came home at the end of the day and scheduled an appointment with my neuro doctor. On Friday I went to visit him and he proceeded to tell me every symptom I had the day previous, without me even mentioning the majority of them. He then shared that I had stressed, aggravated or pinched my Occipital nerve. He then shared that this nerve connects to muscles etc in my neck, mouth, shoulder etc etc. I stated to him that I thought it was nuts how one little nerve could do all that. He then said, "don't you remember that song The Hip Bones Connected to the...."
