We would like this blog to encapsulate exactly what the title refers to. The "memoirs", the memories, the observations and the life experiences that occur at Burke Manor. Why Burke Manor, you ask? Anytime someone new would come to visit our home Josh would always say, "welcome to Burke Manor". It just sort of stuck so now we have, "The Memoirs of Burke Manor".

The manor needs an expansion fund...
Going on about four years now Josh and I have hosted a small week night Bible study. This study was originally designed to study various chapters in the Bible and discuss them on a week to week basis. The Bible study's original members were Josh, myself, Amber, and Gerry. We began in the book of Romans, we were challenged to look beyond the end of our nose and see things in "context". This Bible study caused us to grow close to one another and really develop accountabilities between one another. After a year or so the Bible study eventually began to grow with Dowker, Benedict, The Quann's, Aaron, Jennie and eventually the Hintons joining the group. Throughout the weeks various others would pop in and visit, but for a long time it remained around 7-12 in attendance. Until recently, the Bible study overnight has ruptured and last night we had an amazing 28 in attendance!!! Josh and I would of course like to think it is because we are so wonderful, however we know that God has brought each and everyone of these individuals into our lives. Each week Josh plans and prepares for the lesson and each week we are amazed at how much God teaches us through the people who attend. Each person that comes is unique in their own way, adding major characteristics and dynamics to the group. We thank God that he has given us the opportunity to serve Him in such a way. Through the few years of the Bible study we have had "members" move out of town or not come due to scheduling and these transitions are always tough. We miss these people dearly. However, the Lord always brings new people that we sit back and thank God what would the study be like if this person would have never come. To sum this all up, Josh and I are basically thankful for the fellowship, challenges and growth that this small Bible study brings into our lives. Needless to say if 28 continues, "The manor needs an expansion fund".
